His First Photoshoot

Note: I'm no photographer, and neither is my brother, so please keep in mind that we're both amateurs at this.

This is one of our two beautiful new kittens. His name is Soki, and he's four months old. As of the end of August, we've only had him for two-ish weeks, and this picture was taken not more than a day after we got him.

Soki is quite possibly one of the most affectionate animals I've ever known in my life. We call him "Head Cat," because he'll climb up right to the area between your head and your shoulder and cuddle. Also, I've never had a cat that liked having his belly rubbed, but this one loves it.

For the picture itself, I only did a few cosmetic changes, and just one of those was on the cat itself. I don't usually sharpen images, because it tends to give them a grainy look, but it worked for this one, so I sharpened the whole thing. Everything else was on the scenery. I took the sponge tool and greyed out the carpet and the banister, which are grey and white, respectively, anyway - they've just gotten yellowed from age. I wanted to avoid drawing attention to that flaw, so I got rid of it. Then, I lightly smudged away some of the flaws on the banisters - paint chipping, random stray hair, what-have-you. That little peek of dark background was already almost pitch black, so I just darkened it a bit more. I cropped away a small chunk of the unnecessary background, but other than that, this picture hasn't been changed in any really noticeable ways - certainly not the cat.

I never got the chance to take a lot of pictures of my first cat, Tony, so I'm making sure that we get a lot of Soki. <3
